We have selected a few websites which specialise in the development and promotion of sustainable energy.  This list does not attempt to be representative but rather to provide you with an indication of what types of information are available on the subject of energy and ecodevelopment.  HELIO partners with many of these organisations and networks.   Climate Action Network is a worldwide network of over 340 non- governmental organisations (NGOs) working to promote government and individual action to limit human-induced climate change to ecologically sustainable levels. The CAN website serves as a clearinghouse of climate policy and contact information.
 

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE)

Based in India (New-Delhi), this is one of the leading centers in the developing work on ecodevelopment issues.  It is very involved in the UNFCCC climate negociations. 

CURES: Citizens United for Renewable Energies and Sustainability

This is an international network of NGOs.  It was created in response to the failure to develop a global action plan to halt climate change.  CURES works to promote an aggressive programme to promote renewables worldwide.

This is an international nonprofit organisation that provides web-based platforms to make aid and development efforts more effective around the world.

Earth Portal

The Earth Portal is a comprehensive, free an dynamic resource for timely, objective science-based information about the environment built by a global community of environmental experts who have joined together to communicate to the world.  The Earth Portal is created and governed by individuals and organisations who put their names behind their words and where attribution and expert-review for accuracy are fundamental.

 is a comprehensive online database, maintained by the World Resources Institute, that focuses on the environmental, social, and economic trends that shape our world.

 is a French NGO created to raise awareness in the European business community about sound energy practices and to promote the development of innovative solutions in support of them. This website is in French.

ENDA-Energie

Environnement-Développement Tiers-Monde works to promote and faciliate the energy solutions for Africa that are in line with ecodevelopment objectives.  This website is in French.

The European Business Council for a Sustainable Energy Future, e5

(e-to-the-power-of-5) -represents the business interests of companies and associations that offer solutions for climate protection by promoting renewable energy.  e5 promotes a new economical rationale embodied by the Kyoto Protocol - where climate is business.

EuroRex

Everything you need to know on renewable energy in Europe.  EuroREX is devoted to the promotion of renewable energy in Europe.  It also provides commercial, investment, export country and technology informaiton with up-to-date news on sustainable and alternative energy development in Europe and the rest of the world.

Greenpeace - Climate Change

Information about climate change, how to get involved and information about activities around the world and much more is presented on this site. 

is a global network of independent non-governmental organisations working for sustainable energy solutions to reduce poverty and protect the environment.

  is a global policy network that provides a forum for international leadership on renewable energy. Its goal is to bolster policy development for the rapid expansion of renewable energies in developing and industrialised economies. This site has numerous documents that look at the current status of renewables.

is an international francophone network that focuses on increasing the access to renewable energy sources.  It works to build capacity and promote experiences and new applications in the francophone community.

Rocky Mountain Institute

This US based think-tank specialises in the minimisation of resource use and is headed by Amory Lovins, the inventor of alternative energy planning (Soft Energy Paths - 1976). 

   The SouthSouthNorth Project (SSN) is a network of organizations, research institutions and consultants to help public and private stakeholders develop the necessary confidence for dealing effectively with the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). SSN operates in Brazil, South Africa, Bangladesh and Indonesia.

  The United Nations Framework Climate Change Convention (UNFCCC) is the international secretariat that supports all institutions involved in the climate change process.  This is the place for information and documentation on the Climate Change Convention and the Kyoto Protocol.
