    Bios of HELIO's Board Members

 

 

 

Nina Campbell (Interim Chairman) is a lawyer by training, with a focus in International Environmental Law and Mäori (indigenous people of NZ) Land Law. In her native New Zealand, Nina worked in general practice and has experience in various fields from commercial to immigration law. She complemented her legal training by working voluntarily as a legal advisor to the Citizen’s Advice Bureau in New Zealand and travelling widely. Nina is currently based in Paris, France, working for the International Energy Agency in its Energy Efficiency and Environment Division.

  Christine Fiebig (Secretary) is an industrial engineer with a background in energy sector analysis and reporting. Originally from Chile, Christine has worked in the industrial sector to increase efficiencies and identify cost-effective solutions. She recently completed a master’s degree in global affairs with an emphasis on energy and the environment.

Eleanor J. Morrison (Treasurer) is an energy finance executive with over 20 years experience in international commodity markets. She started her energy career in Vancouver, Canada and then relocated to New York and London where she worked in commodity trading for Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers. Eleanor currently runs her own consulting business, based in London, focused on energy finance and market policy and regulations. She has a BASc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada and an MBA from the University of British Columbia, Canada. Eleanor is an experienced international lecturer on commodity and financial markets and is currently teaching energy market courses at Sciences Po in Paris.

Irène Beucler (Board Member) is currently working in a consulting firm specialising in business management and transformation projects. She is a graduate of the Sorbonne University with a degree in International Economics. Irène joined HELIO International in 2010 and helped launch HELIO's Junior Team.

Valérie Blanchot-Courtois (Board Member) has over 18 year experience in energy and innovation management, 12 of which were with GDF SUEZ in a number of management positions. Valerie is the founder of Human Ventures (a private consulting company) and was the President of Agora energy. Formed in 2004, Agora energy was a think-tank comprised of over 2000 members that work to create new and innovative energy solutions. Currently Valérie is a professor at SKEMA Business School, Owner of Human Ventures and Vice President, Fédération Femmes 3000, France

Hélène Connor (Honorary Chairman) has been working on sustainable energy issues since 1971. She is now coordinating the work of the Sustainable Energy Watch at HELIO. Until 1995 Hélène worked at the OECD Environment Directorate where she was the economist in charge of developing the work of the Directorate in the field of energy and environment. Prior to the OECD, Hélène worked in Canada where she taught at the University of Quebec in Montreal and was a Member of the first National Round Table on Environment and the Economy and Vice-Chair of the Canadian Environmental Advisory Committee.

Alain Guinebault (Board Member) has over twenty-five years experience in energy conservation, renewable energy, and economic development. Currently Alain is head of GERES, an international NGO that is involved in the implementation of engineering solutions, for development and providing specific technical expertise for environmental conservation, climate change mitigation and adaptation, reducing energy poverty, and improving the livelihood of the poor. Alain oversees the creation and implementation of innovative and sustainable development projects in France and in eight African and Asian countries.

Michel Labrousse (Board Member) is a retired engineer with extensive experience in energy issues. He has worked with ADEME as head of the economic department and cofounded a consulting company in energy planning called EXPLICIT. Michel has worked with various countries on establishing energy efficiency policy.  He was recently part of PRASE, a programme aimed at developing access to energy service in rural areas of Niger. PRASE prioritises access to "collective energy services" (health, education, etc.) to aid in poverty reduction. Michel is a member of Association Global Chance.

   Yves Marignac (Board Member) has over 20 years experience in the energy sector, primarily on nuclear energy and its associated risks.  He has produced or coordinated numerous publications especially in the areas of nuclear risk, nuclear waste, planning and electrical systems, energy policies and of long-term energy scenarios. Yves is also involved in developing France's pluralistic expertise and regularly contributes to expert groups such as Global Chance and négaWatt. Yves is currently the Director of WISE-Paris that specialised on providing independent and fact-based information on energy and nuclear.

Ibrahim Togola (ex-officio Board Member) is an engineer with over 15 years experience in project development, monitoring and evaluation, and policy work in the energy and climate filed. He is the founder and Director of the Mali-Folkecenter Nyetaa, based in Bamako, Mali. Ibrahim also created the Malian Renewable Energy and Environmental Protection Association (AMPERE) that works to link and coordinate activities on energy and environment in Mail and throughout Africa.
