All about us... |
HELIO International is a non-governmental organisation based in Paris, France. Its secretariat coordinates the development and execution of projects, liaises with energy experts and ensures regional representation on issues concerning energy sustainability.
Formed in 1997, HELIO is incorporated in France under the 1901 Law for Non-profit Associations and administered by a Board of Administration. Its work is directed by an Advisory Group who heads HELIO's global network. The Advisory Group is comprised of economists, geographers, urban-planners, engineers, who are specialized in supply- or demand-side energy issues.
HELIO International benefits from the guidance of a Scientific and Technical Committee (STAC). The STAC is made up of persons who have contributed internationally to the advancement of knowledge in the energy-environment field and of representatives from worker unions, institutes and other non-governmental international organisations. Regional activities are coordinated by a team of Regional Coordinators.
HELIO is an accredited observer to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), Mission D. HELIO is also a member of numerous international NGO networks including ANPED, Climate Action Network, the European Environmental Bureau, INFORSE, and OECD Watch. |
